The state of the large cities ecology, limitation of natural resources forcing us to develop the alternative types of transport more actively. According to ecologists, the main reason of a bad ecological situation of the modern city is motor transport. The average passenger car throws out so much carbon dioxide in a year, how many weights itself. Motor transport gives up to 42% of pollution to the atmosphere of the Russian cities; for Moscow and St.-Petersburg this figure makes up to 80-90%.

The fact that electric transport is the good solution of an environmental and road problem isn’t a subject of disputes. It is one of the most perspective means of transport which is considered as the most acceptable alternative to traditional transport with ICE. According to the experts, by the year 2017 the global quantity of electric vehicles will reach about 6 million cars. In Russia, about 10% of a car market will be consist of EV’s (in all segments). And it is a lot of, considering that thus quantity will be measured by thousands units.

Advantages of electric transport are obvious:

  • No harmful emissions in the atmosphere;

  • Decrease in the general noise in the city; 

  • Decrease in the peak loads of a power supply system;

  • Comfort for passengers due to low noise and vibration in salon;

  • Possible economy by energy recuperation system;

  • Low operational costs.

Proceeding from the today’s prices for gasoline, expenses for energy for electric vehicles will be in 5,5 times less than for a similar car with ICE. Maintenance will be also cheaper: there is no need of engine service, oil replacement, filters, candles of internal combustion. Electric vehicle has higher initial cost in comparison with the traditional one, but due to lower operational costs, the terms of their payback is comparable.
