The first electric bus with dynamic charging and Liotech cells, a modern version of trolleybuses with autonomous run set off at noon on December, 12. The St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Sergeyevich Poltavchenko took part in the ceremony. The governor compared today's event with the launch of the first tram in the city.
Today, a new type of transport - the electric bus with dynamic charging was received by residents of the Primorsky district of St. Petersburg. The track of the first route (Nr. 23) covers Bogatyrsky and Shuvalovsky Prospekts, they were not previously equipped with a trolley contact network and became available to residents of neighborhood areas.
The eco-friendly transport powered by Liotech lithium-ion cells became more accessible for St. Petersburg in the city center, as well as in remote areas with new buildings. The electric buses of the Northern Capital are able to autonomously overcome a distance of more than 15 kilometers, and can be charged while moving along the route that eliminates the necessity for stopping and waiting for a full charge of the battery.
The information that the route 23 will become the first route of trolleybuses was reported last week. As previously reported, the Chairman of the Committee for Transport Aleksandr Golovin said that electric buses with dynamic charging will start to drive along Nevsky Prospekt in 2018.
The Press Office of Gorelectrotrans in St. Petersburg reports: "In 2017-2018, 115 battery-powered trolleybuses will be in the fleet of the company. In May 2017, Trolza - Market LLC has won a tender for the supply of these trolleybuses for 2 billion rubles”.
For the period from 2017 to 2018, Liotech, RUSNANO portfolio company will supply 80 vehicle sets equipped with the latest lithium-ion batteries within the contract with the leading Russian trolleybus manufacturer Trolza CJSC which is implementing the largest contract in the country for the renewal of the passenger electric transport with autonomous run for the residents of St. Petersburg.
